If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Smiles posted a discussionsparked by a question on a semi-recent LDT episode, i was wondering what spillios thought of conspiracy theories.
I think the majority of them are bullshit, and the 9/11 conspiracy theories almost piss me off by how ridiculous they are, too many people believe government security agencies are all-powerful, uber-competent, hyper-efficiently organized entities. rather than often inept, and filled with inneficient beaurocrats. Don't get me wrong, i know the CIA and its afiliates are powerful, but if they cant even kill castro after god knows how many attempts, i highly doubt they can orchestrate an event years in the making like september 11th and still keep it a secret. the fact the attacks happened with thousands of witnesses and tens of milions more watching from home, doesnt help the conspiracy nuts' case either.
And i know enough about US foreign policy to know they dont need to kill 3000 of their own citizens to find an excuse to invade a country. so that pretty much debunks the whole 'rationale for Iraq/afghan war' theory and on top of that the fact that its well documented the US tried repeatedly to kill Bin Laden prior to 9/11. so the 'CIA working with bin laden' theory is debunked too.
And as for the Kennedy Assasination, i believed the conspiracy theories... but then i watched this BBC documentary and i changed my mind completely (in your face, oliver stone!).

Permalink Reply by Jordan O. on April 18, 2011 at 6:19pm uugggg i really don't want to do this to be honest so i'll just name a couple, just to say that i don't blindly believe in this, also these are my points of view there aren't many things people can do to change them just so you know.
only three steel framed buildings have ever been brought down by a fire. EVER. all three of them fell down on 9/11. One building burned for two whole days and the top 10 floors collapsed but the building stood.
3 planes hitting their targets over a spam of 2 hours is unthinkable. There was absolutely no way that NORAD couldn't be up in the air and shoot down the planes. Normally they would be in the sky within 5 minutes and the pilots NEED to shoot. But 3 or 4 months earlier a law was passed ordering that the pilots we not allowed to shoot a plane down without the order from the president, V.P. or the secretary of defense.
There have been many accounts of government sponsored terror through out history, and example would be Hitlers burning of his parliament building, to gain martial law.

How many steel structured buildings have been directly hit by a large passenger jet fully laden with fuel? This is a more relevant question than the basic fire one IMO. Basic burning isn't anough to bring down most steel structures, intense fire with a heavy weight on top most certainly is.
As for your second response, with a lack of hindsight this seems like a perfectly reasonable law to pass. Even if this law hadn't been passed, I'm not convinced these passenger jets would have been shot down in time anyway. No one was sure about what was going on at that time.
Your arguments are not convincing to me.
But foremost, as much as I distrusted the Bush administration, I don't believe they had the will or the means to orchestrate a conspiracy of this type. What they had to gain is so insignificant compared with the risk of being found out it would be insane.
The fact that you've compared the Bush administration to Hitler's undermines your argument even further for me.
Permalink Reply by Jordan O. on April 18, 2011 at 7:09pm thats completely understandable. just one short sound off it has been scientifically proven that the jet fuel could not reach the burning point of white hot steal. i understand you don't believe me and i understand why you wouldn't want to but i have looked at both sides and the idea that all of this could happen is unfound and also multiple sources contacted the government up to 3 months in advance to warn america about an attack. finally the easiest way to prove that the attack were real would be to release footage from the 'airplane' hit the building. Even though there were multiple cameras facing the white house we have never seen any footage of the airplane hitting the build, all the public has seen are 5 still which don't show any plane. If the government has nothing to hide then why wont they show the public any footage. ok i'm done i want to see how this develops.

Now try and prove that Woody Harrelson's dad didn't kill JFK!
