If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Sorry to be a dumb ass but what are these 'changes' at spill? Brian fired? Podcasts dissapearing??? Remote Viewing is the only thing that keeps me here these days. Can someone explain what's going on?
Here's what I know.
1) Loading Bar is gone. Hollywood.com had to cut them in order to support future things for Spill.com
2) Some animators for the site were released as well.
3) Jeff and Jason will most likely keep their Youtube page and continue making videos either on another site or their own site. Either way you haven't heard the last of them.
4) No idea about Remote Viewing. Rumor is that Cyrus said he had to take "one of his shows" to another site. That could mean Remote Viewing is leaving Spill, but that is NOT confirmed. It's just rumor and speculation until Korey or Cyrus or whoever makes an official announcement. Remote Viewing has been cancelled as well.
That's all i've got.
the loading bar and remote viewing are cancelled; due to budget cuts. Jason and Jeff are going to do more let's plays but not under the loading bar name and from what I'm guessing RV may move to lounge geeks.
It's just been confirmed on the RV facebook page, it's cancelled
Yeah, just saw that myself. *sigh* Damn.
Sort of figured it would have been with Salisbury being removed.
In that case i'm gone:( No remote viewing i'm done sorry. I heard something like Brian is gone? correct? Where was all this announced? Haven't being around for a while...
Their Facebook page.
It is early, but Korey will explain in the coming days and probably even into next week. Korey now has a lot more control over Spill.com from Hollywood.com and is allowed to start making the changes he had been asking for from them for a long time. However, this came at a price, he had to trim the budget by a sizable chunk. The Loading Bar and Happy Hour was a very expensive endeavor. On the movie side of things, over the years Korey and the Spill crew have put in the time and effort to become recognized critics that allow them to get into free Press screenings as well as screeners in the mail to do movie reviews. The video game side of the site was forced onto Korey before the groundwork was able to be done so every game reviewed they paid full price for or in a few cases a Gamefly subscription. Plus reimbursing console purchases (with 2 new ones coming soon, that would be a big chunk of change) as well as paying for their time and appearances on the reviews and videos, The Loading Bar was expensive and only going to get more so with the new consoles coming out. With the site's current monetization, they could not cover the costs. So, Spill.com is restructuring to focus on the movie reviews and some of the other podcasts and trying to redesign it to become profitable and stable for future growth.
sounds like korey made a deal with the devil for a bit more control and money to the people who matter (himself).
Well, so far......
LEOG - gone.
Remote Viewing - gone.
Loading Bar - gone.
Cut in staff.
Korey and Billy show - Still around? Don't know as of yet if anything is going to happen to that one.
Let's Do This - Still around? Again, don't know as of yet.
Audio Reviews - Still around.
Video Reviews - Don't know as there was a cut in staff, may be effected but not sure.
News articles - Don't know. My understanding was that Salisbury did a lot of those, but if he's been removed then not sure about the articles.
Forums - Uh, going to assume they are still going to be available.
Fuck, it may just be easier to say what's actually still left. Uh, audio reviews for sure. The rest of it, not a damn clue.
I am just expressing my personal opinion here and I don't want to insult anyone by saying this, but I think that out of all the podcasts, The Untitled Korey and Billy Show was the least favorite for me.
Initially, when I became a member, my favorite podcast was ACOCO, followed by The Loading Bar. Soon enough I really started to enjoy LEOG. Afterwards, I even got into Let's Do This, but when Korey and Co-Host were joined by Billy. If I remember accurately, Billy wasn't able to continue being a part of LDT due to his always changing program or something like that, thus The Untitled Korey and Billy show came to be. Although hearing more of Alan was nice, I didn't really get into it. Also, I really started to enjoy Remote Viewing, because even though Brian's puns were annoying from time to time, I really enjoyed the actual reviews for these older films.
All in all, I am really upset about The Loading Bar. I mean it really came as a shock to me. Furthermore I am upset about LEOG which for me personally, was starting to get better and better. Now that Remote Viewing is gone as well, a lot of members might choose to skip ACOCO and LDT. I, for one, will stay because I enjoy all the effort put into Spill by everyone who works here and, of course, the great community.
