If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Who loves this movie and wishes that its greatness was fully appreciated?
I enjoy the movie, but wouldn't call it great.
There are a few great scenes in it, but the story is little too simple, and some of the acting isn't up to par for me to consider it great.
Also, not sure how you can say the film isn't appreciated. It has a massive following, tons of merchandise, special editions, hell I even went to a re-release screening in Hollywood that had a Q&A with Troy Duffy after where the audience as a whole gave him a slobbery hour long blow job.
If you want to watch a great Action film I'd suggest Any of Nolan's Batmans, Platoon, Alien/Aliens/Prometheus, or Predator. Just to name a few.
Finally Troy Duffy kind of proved his lack of greatness with the sequel.
Diverging Opinion: Scratch The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, and Alien (that's a horror flick, not so much an action movie), and you're alright there. Die Hard, The Great Escape, or Crank would be great action flicks to exchange those with.
Just watch Blade. That's the only action movie anyone needs. Maybe throw in a little commando if you need to see a honkey killing fools.
My favorite movies often borrow elements from all of the genres.
I can't believe you don't consider Rises a great film, but you've already told me your problems with it so I'll just agree to disagree. Can we at least agree that Bane is fucking awesome?
Alien/Aliens/Prometheus do have horror elements but they also have just as many action elements. Why do you consider Alien a horror flick, and Predator an action flick?
I love horror films my first film will be a horror film so I like to think I understand the genre. To me horror films are all about the chase, and the killer should be some kind of unstoppable, inhumane, supernatural force. Where you can't comprehend his/her motivation, or relate with them. All you need to kill an Alien is a flamethrower, and the Aliens motivation is completely understandable they need human incubators to reproduce. Nothing scary about that.
A horror film must have a horror villain, or I classify it as suspense, or action. Examples of horror villains Micheal Myers, Jason, Freddy Kruger, PinHead ect.
Die Hard, The Great Escape, and Crank are all great films.
I think this movie has had its "greatness" fully appreciated a thousand times over. It's the most overrated piece of bargain bin material I've seen in my limited experience. Anyways, that's just my opinion, if you like the film then more power to you- a lot of people agree with you.
It's a good movie but I never really got what all the fuss was about. I hear it's about to get a second sequel, which is a lot more than many other great movies get so I'd say it's done more than ok
Love the movie hope we get that third part that All Siants Day hinted at
